UNFPA SUPPORT HANDS OFF OUR GIRLS WITH DIGNITY KITS.

Presenting the item Dr. Kim Eva Dickson, UNFPA representative stated that the Dignity Kit contains Sanitary pads, Face towels, torch Light, underwear, soap, etc. She disclosed that they have been supporting the Hands off Our Girls campaign as it is the First Lady desires to provide sanitary pads to girls, stating that they thought it fit to help out with providing part of their dignity kit to the First Lady  to go along with the sanitary pads. 

She Said they have 17,000 of which they have given out 10,000 already and the rest are being prepared to be handed over to the Hands off Our Girls campaign which they will add to the sanitary pads distribution to give to girls across the country.

 she expressed how proud they are of the work being done by the First Lady around girls in the country and her relentless effort in the fight against Sexual and gender-based violence. 

Receiving the items the First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone Madam Fatima Maada Bio expressed excitement to share the same vision with UNFPA in wanting to see change for girls and to protect them from every form of harm, adding that her collaboration with UNFPA has to be a cordial one, and stated how she cherishes whatever they give in support of her campaign. 

According to the First Lady the support from UNFPA is a demonstration of the Organisation believe in the Hands off Our Girls campaign and a show of commitment expressed  to bringing change in the lives of women and girls in the country. 

The First Lady applauded UNFPA for it’s tremendous contributions over the past two years and for it relentless support to the project which has made their relationship very fruitful. The First Lady assured UNFPA, that the items provided will be used for the intended purpose for which it is provided for, and that the kit will be very handy to the girls especially the torchlight  as it will also help them to study at night. 

She mentioned  that the sanitary pads came about as a result of the demands from the girls. She emphasised that all this is President Bio’s vision to see that girls and women are protected and taken care of, adding that the history of Hands off Our Girls will not be completed without UNFPA been measured
