SCHOOL GIRLS IN KENEMA BENEFIT FROM FIRST LADY’S FREE SANITARY PADS.

Her Excellency, Madam Fatima Bio on Saturday 23 January 2021 continued the distribution of free sanitary pad to schools girls within Kenema City as part of a nationwide distribution process that will target 60,000 beneficiaries.The distribution exercise started with three schools in the eastern end of Sierra Leone and was witnessed by senior government officials, members of Julius Maada Bio Women Wing and the Maada & Fatima Bio foundation.In her statement, Her Excellency told the cheerful young girls that menstruation was not a crime and therefore, not something to be ashamed of. โ€œMenstruation is not a choice, you need not be ashamed because it is not a crimeโ€ Madam Fatima told the girls and called on them to focus on their education and say “no” to early marriage and teenage pregnancy. The delivery of the free sanitary pad was in fulfillment of a promise she made to provide hygienic sanitary pads to school girls as part of the “๐—›๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ๐˜€ ๐—ผ๐—ณ๐—ณ ๐—ข๐˜‚๐—ฟ ๐—š๐—ถ๐—ฟ๐—น๐˜€” Campaign to keep them in school during their menstruation period. The free sanitary pads were safe to use and certified by UN to be used anywhere in the world. Each pack contains 120 pieces of pads and would serve each child for a year. Her Excellency displayed the pads to girls and explained itโ€™s proper use, emphasizing the pads should not be sold. The principal of the Holy Rosary Senior Secondary School Rev. Venita Shu, Magdalene Kamara said they are proud and honored to have the first lady in their midst. She said Her Excellency have visited the school severally before she became First Lady to do charity work and she is known to fulfill her promises.Rev.
