On the evening of January 20th, 2024.
A significant event took place at the Presidential Lodge, where His Excellency, President Dr. Julius Maada Bio, and First Lady Dr. Fatima Maada Bio graciously hosted a dignified dinner for the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Parliamentarians. This gathering served as a powerful symbol of collaborative spirit, emphasizing the crucial need for unity within the political realm.
Set against the backdrop of the Presidential Lodge, the convivial occasion provided a platform for meaningful conversations, fostering strengthened bonds between the executive leadership and parliamentary representatives. It was an opportunity to nurture a shared commitment to the nation’s progress, reinforcing the interconnected roles of the government’s different branches in shaping the country’s future.
During the event, Her Excellency Dr. Fatima Maada Bio expressed gratitude to the MPs for their pivotal role in securing the majority of seats in the House of Parliament. She thanked them for their unwavering support and belief in President Bio, expressing confidence that they would take pride in his accomplishments when his term concludes.
President Dr. Julius Maada Bio, in turn, extended his appreciation to the parliamentarians for their decisions on behalf of the country. He emphasized the paramount importance of peace, articulating his strong desire to bring lasting peace to the nation. The President shared his vision of leaving behind a better, stronger, and healthier political party as part of his legacy. “There are differences, but that should not divide us as a party. We should always be united for the big future. Without us, the Sierra Leone People’s Party and our country will never be developed” he said. He later thanked the First Lady for creating such a platform.
The evening’s dinner concluded on a delightful note as the Women’s Leadership of the SLPP Party presented a birthday cake to the First Lady.
