H.E MRS. FATIMA MAADA BIO GRACES LIERIA’S ‘’SHE’S YOU’’ OFFICIAL LAUNCH.

The First Lady, Mrs. Fatima Maada Bio has on the 20th June 2019 graced the “She’s You” launch in Monrovia, Liberia. This initiative is formed and headed by Liberia’s First lady, Mrs. Clar Marie Weah. According to Mrs. Weah, this initiative is set up to look into the challenges face by women and girls in not only Liberia but Africa as a whole.

The first lady of Liberia, Mrs. Clar Weah stated that Liberia cannot boast of democracy while there are always complaints of gender based Violence, Rape, maternal mortality, Equal Rights etc.

“Today, I want to introduce a revolutionary idea to make sure that every woman in Liberia is respected and treated with dignity, irrespective of her status”, Mrs. Weah said. She added that the “She’s You” movement is greatly inspired by the rapid complaints of gender based violence, rape etc in Africa. She also said that this movement will empower women and children in Liberia. She also confirmed that women and girls will be greatly encouraged to enjoy equal facilities as men do. She finally express her great admiration for Mrs. Fatima Maada Bio for relentlessly advocating for women and girls since she became first lady of Sierra Leone.

In her remarks, the first lady of Sierra Leone, Mrs. Fatima Maada Bio thanked dignitaries present and appreciated their presence. She thanked Liberia’s president for the great support accorded to her counterpart Mrs Weah in championing the She’s You movement. She said movements like this will end the common menace in Africa. “It’s time to say enough is enough, our women deserve respect too” Mrs Fatima maada Bio said.

She added that speaking with one strong voice goes a long way and authorities concerned should make sure culprits are well dealt with.

“Until we start educating our men so that they can see us as part of them, as partners in development they won’t treat us fairly.” Fatima Maada Bio ended.

The president Dr. George Maneh Weah Of Liberia in his statement expresses his love for his wife. Wishing her a happy 27years Of Marriage anniversary. He thank the First Ladies Of Sierra Leone and Ghana for coming out to support his darling wife. He added that the First Ladies present at the event are hard working and dedicated to the improvements of AFRICA and such women are hard to find and all other women must copy from such vibrant women in society. “The She’s You movement is a step in the right direction in making sure the voices of women are heard”, Mr. Weah said. He also added that his government will do it’s best to ensure that the problem of gender based violence, rape, inequality etc come to an end.

He concluded that there are challenges in the sector dealing with women but soon and very soon, things will be ok for women and girls in Liberia.
