The First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Her Excellency, Madam Fatima Maada Bio, has on Monday 6th September 2021 received a delegation of health practitioners from the Ministry of Health and Sanitation and the U.S Embassy at her office at Godriech in Freetown, to discuss on the wellness of girls and prevention of diseases like cervical cancer, which is a killer disease among women and girls in Sierra Leone, hence an impediment to reaching their full potential.

The Chief Medical Officer at the Ministry of Health and Sanitation, Rev. Can. Dr. T.T Samba gave a green statistic of women who die yearly in Sierra Leone due to cervical cancer, which is caused by a virus called HPB, hence they are working on a preventive strategy, thereby consulting the First Lady as an advocate and influencer of such causes that concerns women and girls, to be a champion for the cause and see that the venture is successful.

First Lady welcomed the delegation and appreciate their acknowledgement of the work she does for girls and for prioritizing the women and girls of the nation, while noting, she is committed to anything that is set to protect and empower the young women and girls of Sierra Leone, as she derives joy from knowing girls have an option to actualize their dreams and aspirations.
