𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐧, 𝐒𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐚 𝐋𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐞 – President Dr. Julius Maada Bio and First Lady Dr. Fatima Maada Bio joined the Muslim faithful in celebrating Eid al-Adha with prayers held at the State Lodge on Sunday, June 16, 2024.

Their participation in the traditional Eid al-Adha prayers underscores the President and First Lady’s commitment to fostering religious harmony and respect for the diverse religious practices within the country.

In his statement, President Bio emphasized the importance of unity and understanding across religious lines, stating, “Eid al-Adha is a time of reflection and sacrifice, reminding us of the values of faith, compassion, and community. As we celebrate this important festival, let us reaffirm our commitment to peace, unity, and the well-being of all Sierra Leoneans.”

The President and First Lady’s presence highlighted their ongoing efforts to promote social cohesion and mutual respect among the different faith communities in Sierra Leone. The imams expressed their gratitude for the continued support and recognition from the nation’s highest leaders.

Eid al-Adha, also known as the Festival of the Sacrifice, is a significant Islamic holiday commemorating Prophet Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God.
