First Lady Dr. Fatima Maada Bio has re-echoed the call of her husband, His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio for Love, Unity, Tolerance and Peace to reign in Sierra Leone.

The President and First Lady Maada Bio both spoke at the 59th Annual Jalsa Salana Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Conference today February 9th 2024.

Hosted at the Ahmadiyya Secondary School in Bo City under the theme “Love for all, hatred for none,” the event saw President Bio, as Chief Guest, delivering a keynote address that urged Sierra Leoneans to embrace these values for a brighter future.

In his address, President Julius Maada Bio commended Ahmadiya for organising such a significant conference annually, spreading the message of love and respect for one another.

“We are a nation built on diversity and our strength lies in our unity”, President Bio emphasized. “Let us embrace the teachings of love and tolerance, while working together to overcome challenges and build a more prosperous and peaceful Sierra Leone for all”, he further stated.

The First Lady re-echoed the President’s sentiments, highlighting the importance of interfaith dialogue and collaboration in promoting peace and understanding. She also encouraged parents to allow their daughters and children to be educated and believe in Islam.

“This conference serves as a powerful reminder that we are all stronger when we stand together, irrespective of our faith,” Dr. Fatima Maada Bio remarked. “Let us continue to build bridges of understanding and cooperation, fostering a society where everyone feels respected and valued.”

Earlier in the program, Chairman Musa Mewa Esquire in his opening remarks, expressed gratitude to the First Family for their esteemed presence and affirmed the significance of recognising and worshipping one God. He emphasised that the conference should not only be considered as a social gathering, but must also be regarded as a spiritual event aimed at strengthening faith in Allah and propagating the message of peace.

A special guest from Markaz, the global headquarters of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, conveyed a message from His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, offering prayers for Sierra Leone and emphasising the paramount importance of peace and unity in the world.

The conference served as a platform for promoting interfaith dialogue and strengthening a sense of unity and understanding among Sierra Leoneans. The participation of the President and First Lady further underscores the significance of religious tolerance and collaboration in constructing a peaceful and prosperous nation.
