First Lady of Sierra Leone Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, has officially launched the National Commission for Childrenโ€™s Strategic Plan 2024-2028 at the Sierra Palms Hotel in Aberdeen, Freetown.

This comprehensive plan outlines a roadmap for enhancing children’s well-being and opportunities over the next five years, focusing on crucial sectors like education, healthcare, child protection, and advocacy for child rights.

During the launch, Dr. Fatima Maada Bio stressed the importance of investing in children, declaring, “Our children are not just our future but also our present. By providing them with essential resources and opportunities, we are laying the groundwork for a stronger, more prosperous Sierra Leone for all.”

Established in 2007, the National Commission for Children (NCC) plays a vital role in advocating for and safeguarding children’s rights in Sierra Leone. Crafted through extensive consultations with stakeholders, this new strategic plan is poised to guide the Commission towards achieving its objectives for the betterment of Sierra Leone’s children.

The event, attended by government officials, representatives from international organizations, civil society groups, and child rights advocates, marks a significant step in Sierra Leone’s commitment to ensuring a brighter future for its youngest citizens.
